Excavation
Earthmoving with a plan behind it — foundation digs, trenching, grading and backfill, sized to the site.
Site preparation
Before a machine touches the ground we establish access, staging, spoil handling and where underground services run. On constrained lots that planning decides whether the job is done with a full-size excavator or compact equipment working in stages.
Foundation and basement digs
Digs for new foundations, additions, underpinning support work and basement lowering-related excavation are cut to the lines the structure requires, with spoil loaded out as the excavation progresses.
Trenching
Service trenches, drainage runs and utility routes are cut to depth and line, with trench conditions managed appropriately for the ground you have.
Grading and backfill
Rough and finish grading to shed water away from structures, plus backfill and compaction once below-grade work is complete.
Typical scopes
- Foundation and basement excavation
- Trenching for services and drainage
- Site stripping and preparation
- Grading and levelling
- Backfill, compaction and spoil removal
Excavation frequently pairs with waterproofing — if the foundation is already exposed, that is the moment to protect it.

- What excavation work do you do?
- Foundation and basement digs, trenching, grading, site preparation and backfill. Scope is confirmed against your site conditions before we quote.
- Can you work on tight residential lots?
- Access drives the equipment choice. Send photos of the approach and side yard and we'll advise what can realistically get in.
- Do you remove the excavated material?
- Yes — hauling and disposal of spoil can be included in the scope. It's priced with the dig rather than treated as a surprise.
- What about locates and underground services?
- Underground service locates are arranged before digging. We'll confirm what's required for your specific site as part of planning.
