Waterproofing
Below-grade protection done from the outside in — because water problems are almost never solved with paint.
Why below-grade work matters
A foundation sits in wet ground for much of the year. Where water can reach the wall and has nowhere to drain, it finds cracks, joints and porous concrete. Left alone, that shows up as damp, staining, deteriorating finishes and, eventually, structural wear. Addressing it from the exterior deals with the water before it reaches the wall, rather than managing it after it's inside.
How the work runs
Assessment
We look at where water is appearing, the grade around the building, downspout and surface drainage, and the condition of the foundation itself.
Excavation
The affected section of foundation is excavated down toward the footing so the wall can actually be worked on.
Preparation and membrane
The wall is cleaned and prepared, cracks and joints addressed, and a waterproofing membrane applied to the exposed surface.
Drainage and backfill
Drainage components are installed or replaced as the scope requires, then the excavation is backfilled and the surface graded to move water away from the building.
What we won't tell you
We don't promise outcomes we can't control. After assessment you'll get a clear description of what the proposed work addresses, and what would need separate attention.
This work is closely tied to excavation, which is why the same crew handles both.

- How do I know if I need foundation waterproofing?
- Water entering the basement, damp or efflorescence on foundation walls, visible cracks, or pooling against the house are all reasons to have the foundation looked at. We assess before recommending a scope.
- Do you dig to the footing?
- Exterior waterproofing involves excavating down the foundation wall so it can be cleaned, treated and protected, then backfilled. Whether that's the right approach for your property is determined on assessment.
- Can you do this at the same time as other work?
- Yes. If we are already excavating for another part of the project, combining the work avoids paying twice to open the same ground.
- Do you guarantee a dry basement?
- We don't make blanket guarantees. Water behaviour depends on the structure, the ground and the surrounding drainage. We explain what the proposed work addresses and what it does not.
